Join us as a staff candidate
Who are our staff?
MCYM staff serve on military installations around the world, celebrating life with military teens. Our staff are healthy and competent adults who are deeply committed to their own faith; they understand the rigors of this world and the impact the war has on military kids. Our staff are "subject matter experts providing effective military youth ministry."
MCYM has been around since 1980, and our longevity and success in ministry has resulted from recruiting the highest-quality individuals possible and building into their lives. We seek men and women who understand and are not afraid of responding to the call of God. Our staff are located at or near military installations around the world and provide relational ministry to military youth and their families. Let Every Military Brat Believe!
As an organization we are deeply committed to relational ministry, using the programming models of
Young Life and Youth for Christ. Our staff are employees of one of these two youth-serving organizations. These parent organizations provide administration, training and credentialing for our field staff. New staff join one of these organizations based upon previous experience and the needs of MCYM.
What about Salary and Benefits?
Each new staff person joins the staff of Young Life or Youth for Christ in order to serve with MCYM; they are "detailed" to MCYM. These organizations are faith-based, which means that the organization provides salary and benefits and assists the staff member in raising necessary financial support. Each staff member is responsible to raise monies for his or her own support. The military installation's contribution, to include contract payments and any funds from a community support group, represents only a portion of the youth leader's funding base. Other sources of income for a staff person's support will include private donors. The total of this compensation "package" will vary according to the staff person's experience and needs. There will also be one-time expenses associated with moving and setting up ministry (i.e., moving expenses, a computer, etc.).
Each of our supporting organizations (YL and YFC) has a very competitive benefits package, comparable to other professional businesses, and includes both health-care and retirement plans. Age, experience and additional credentials will also be considered when calculating the total package.
Staff from other youth ministry organizations or churches may also work as MCYM staff and may be employed on a case-by-case basis.
MCYM is also a collaborative member of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry.
